About the Doctor

Celeste Sheppard, MD, FACOG

A native Texan, Dr. Sheppard received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.  After completing her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, she completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and a second fellowship, in perinatal research, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her board certification in obstetrics and gynecology in 1996 and in maternal-fetal medicine in 1998.

After completing her training, she served on the faculties of the University of Maryland Medical School and Scott and White Hospital and Clinics before moving back to Austin in 2003. She currently holds the title of Clinical Assistant Professor at both UT Southwestern Medical School and UT Medical Branch and is actively involved in teaching in the UT Southwestern residency program based at University Medical Center at Brackenridge. She founded Hill Country Maternal Fetal Medicine (HCMFM) in 2004.

Dr. Sheppard is actively involved in MFM at the national level, serving on the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s Education Committee and the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Committee. Locally, she serves on the Perinatal Safety Workgroup of the Seton Family of Hospitals, which is devoted to reducing birth trauma and improving safety for mothers and babies in childbirth.

She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and a member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM). She is also a member of the following professional organizations:
